Minimum Lot Ordinance
Minimum Lot Ordinance
We are currently working to protect the 2200 block of Des Jardines through Houston’s Minimum Lot Size Ordinance and we need your help.
Fonde is a tight-knit, historic neighborhood, and we believe in preserving the charm, space, and livability that make it so special. Developers are increasingly targeting inner-city neighborhoods like ours for dense, multi-unit townhome developments. While growth is important, we must protect our single-family lots to ensure our streets don’t lose their identity—and our residents don’t lose their homes.
By establishing a Minimum Lot Size designation, we can take back local control and safeguard our community from overdevelopment, lot-splitting, and rising displacement pressures.
The Minimum Lot Size ordinance is one of the most powerful tools we have to preserve the character and affordability of our neighborhood. It helps:
Prevent overdevelopment, like townhomes replacing single-family homes
Protect green space, yards, and trees
Maintain housing affordability for working families
Protect our infrastructure from added strain
Preserve the identity of our streets, blocks, and homes
Once in place, it legally restricts lots from being subdivided smaller than a specific square footage, for up to 40 years.
This is a grassroots effort—and we need neighbors like you to keep the momentum going. If you live on the 2200 Block of Des Jardines we can use your help right now! If you would like to start the process on your block please let us know and we can help.
